ANIMALS OTHER THAN MAN IN REALTION TO BEES

Long before man's existence mammals, birds, insects and many other animals exploited honey-storing bees or their nests.

At one time in Europe and America it was a common practice to mark the ownership of a tree hive by placing your initials on that tree.

Honey hunting by man, probably as old as man himself, continued throughout the Mesolithic period when food was still obtained by hunting and gathering. This Mesolithic rock painting shows honey collection in Spain.
