SPIRIT OF THE UNBORN CHILD
I am not yet born
But let me be born in America.
I will ride the winds of democracy
From sea to shining sea.
Let no man hold me back
For I will hear 'Amazing Grace',
'How Great Thou Art' and 'America The beautiful.'
I will know the freedom to choose my religion
Whether it be Islam, Judaism, or Christianity
.
Or if I choose
no religion at all.
I am not yet born
But let me be born in America.
I will walk the Appalachian Trail
And paddle down the Mississippi.
I will roam the wheat fields of Kansas
And walk the cornfields of Nebraska.
I will climb the gentle Smokey's
And scale the heights of the Rockies.
I am not yet born
But let me be born in America.
For God not only blessed America
With all her natural wonders
But he gave her a spirit for the love of freedom
Which grew from the hearts and souls
Of a people destined to populate her
>From countries throughout the world.
I am not yet born
But let me be born in America.
I will know the loving hands of her people
And wipe the brow of the workingman.
We will break bread together
And help each other through life's pain.
I am not yet born
But let me be born in America.
Through the heritage of her people
America belongs to the world.
And knowing how short one's life can be,
If I am to be the spirit and heart and soul of a nation
I want to be born to live and die in America.
