How our Frames are made for our
Hand-dipped Tapers

Be patient, the pictures are large and may take a while to download.

These pictures were taken just to show a close up view of the frames so you could try to make them if you want to. They are not complete instructions. You will have to modify them any way you wish. I found the plans originally in an old book on beekeeping. Some general woodworking skills are needed.

The end result.

These are a set of 6 frames after being taken out of the hot water bath to remove the wax.

All frame parts are made from wood and 1/4 inch dowels.

The bottoms are made from 3/4 wood ripped in 3/8 pieces.

Small nails are used on the bottom to hold the wicks in place.

The tops are made from a 3/4 inch piece of wood, with two holes in the ends, and then cut in half down the center.

Small nails are also used on the top bars to hold the wicks in place.

Large hooks are screwed into the top to hang the whole unit on my circular cooling rack.

The side dowels are slid in between the two top pieces and rubber bands are used to tie them together.

The side dowels are 5/16 inch dowels with pins (or small nails) in the ends.

A completed unit - ready for wick.

We start the wicking by tyies a know at the bottom as shown - leaving some extra wick to tie a little later.

After the wick is strung, you get back to the same spot and tie the other end to the starting end securely and cut off the extra.

The bottom of the frame.

A complete frame ready to dip.
Good luck with your candle making.
