Variety NotesMore Info
|
Chardonnel is the fourth wine grape cultivar to be named by the New York State Agricultural Experiment Station” in Geneva, New York, and is the result of a cross of Seyval and Chardonnay done in 1953. (In its developmental stages the grape was known as GW-9 or NY 45010.)
Clusters are shouldered and medium-large, very little crop is borne on lateral shoots and cluster thinning is required only infrequently. Wine quality has been rated as good to excellent producing a wine “described as pleasant and delicate with light fruitiness”. |
Where are the Chardonnel vines
|
Each row has about 50 vines. We originally had two rows of Chardonnel but they did not do well in our vineyard and we combined them to just one row. |
