Usage Notes

Seedless Table Grape

Einset (Fredonia x Canner) From Cornell University's Geneva, New York experiment station.

Small to medium sized clusters of bright red seedless grapes with a wonderful strawberry like flavor. Ripens early mid season. Keeps well & disease resistant.

This red seedless can be excellent in the right soil, with firm berries and a fruity flavor unlike few other grapes. However, the performance of the vine and the quality of the fruit are quite variable according to the type of soil Einset is grown on.

Einset Grape

Einset Seedless

(Plant patent 6160) is a winter-hardy, red seedless grape with a unique, strawberrylike flavor.

The medium-sized clusters produce bright red, ovoid berries that have good storage potential until the end of November.

The clusters respond well to gibberellic acid or cane girdling to improve cluster compactness and berry size.

The skin is slightly tough and adheres to the tender flesh. Cultural problems include susceptibility to fungal diseases and a seed remnant that is occasionally noticeable.

Along with Vanessa, Einset Seedless probably has the most commercial promise of the red seedless varieties that can be grown successfully in New York. Cluster weight = 0.32 lb. Berry weight = 2.3 g

Where are the Einset vines
located in the vineyard?

Einset Sign

  • Rows 27, 28

Each row has about 50 vines.

Rows 27 & 28 were part of the original vineyard planted in 1983.

Einset is very popular - make sure you pick it before is dissapears.

Where can I Purchase Einset Wine & Vines?

Rose' Wine

Einset wine is not sold in stores. You will have to make it yourselves.

I have used it in some fruity white wine blends.

It may be included (but not on the label) of many wines that have a fruity, sweeter finish.

These style of wines may be purchased on line from:

Due to regulations wine cannot be shipped into Michigan from other states. Stop by these wineries to purchase this style of wine.

(Note - If any other winery carries this style of wine and wants to be included here, please let us know)

We do not sell wine or vines. Please go to our resource page for a listing of nurseries.

The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of 'liberalism,' they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.

How do you propagate grape vines?

Grape vines are propagated by taking dormant shoots pruned off during the spring. These 3 to 4 bud long cuttings are planted in garden soil and grown one year. The next year they are ready to plant in your vineyard.
