The Lakemont Grape produces large clusters of small-medium seedless white grapes. These grapes are non slipskin, meaning the flesh tends to attach to the skin. The Lakemont grapes are delicious eaten fresh and have a very honey taste. This grape is very winter hardy and can be used for table or commercial uses. Grapevines can be ornamental, and are valuable as shade or screen plants in the home or landscape. |

Variety NotesMore Info
|
Lakemont. Another sibling of Himrod from Geneva, New York, this white seedless is the best producer of the group, with a yield of as much as 35 pounds per vine. Clusters are very large, well-filled to compact, and quite handsome. In the West, they are neutral in flavor, but in the East they have a mild labrusca flavor. Keeps in cold storage the best of all the seedless varieties. Lakemont actually gets better in storage. Ripens about two weeks after Himrod. Produces best with cane training, but will give a decent crop when trained to cordons with spurs. |
Where are the Lakemont vines
|
Each row has about 50 vines. Rows 11 & 12 were part of the original vineyard planted in 1983. Along with Himrod white seedless, Lakemont is one of our most favorite grapes for table use. We plan on planting some more rows of Lakemont next year. |
