The "Magic" of grapegrowing and winemaking.

I have a lot of friends that grow apples, grains, vegetable and other crops. I know they enjoy what they are doing, but there is NOTHING better to grow than grapes.

Frontenac Grape

I walk down a row of recently pruned frontenac (image at left) and I can picture the sweet red grapes and the delicious red wine that it will make.

Try doing that with a bushel of corn.

I look at a row of Niagara and I can picture the golden yellow fruit, the aromatic smell of the Niagara rows when they are ripe and the delicious fruity white wine that it makes. At this point, after a lot of fresh air and work in the vineyard I really enjoy going inside for a cold glass of Niagara.

Try doing that with a bushel of potatoes.

Niagara Grape

Concord Grape

This happens the whole year in the vineyard. Soon the vineyard will be in full bloom and the swelling buds and gentle scent of the Concord vines will make visions of Sweet Concord wine.

Try visioning that with a bushel of soybeans.

I could go on and on - but you get the idea. Anyway, enough of this blarney - Just come out this fall and smell the grapes yourselves.
