Hello from Honeyflow Farm.
This is the Harvest-Holiday
issue of our newsletter.

We hope to keep you up to date at what is happening at our farm. We are located in Dryden, Michigan - just north of the Detroit Area.

There are 3 enterprises at our farm:

  • a Vineyard that grows u-pick grapes for home winemakers!
  • a Honey Farm producing honey from Michigan wildflowers!
  • and a Beeswax Candle Shop that produces candles from Michigan beeswax!

More background info on our farm ....

Although the U-Pick part of our farm is only open September to Mid October - our On-Line Web site is open all year!

At our Candle Shop you can purchase candles, honey soap and honey products any time you wish.

We hope you will visit us at our farm - on line or in person during September in the fall. Thank you - Bill & Pat Schnute

BEESWAX CANDLE FAQ
Beeswax Pillars Do you use Fragrance Oils or Essential Oils? What is the difference?

Both! We use cinnamon & bayberry Fragrance Oils for some scented candles & votives and Essential Oils in or new line of votives. Essential Oils are considered more natural.

VINEYARD & WINEMAKING FAQ
Can grapevines survive very cold weather?

Yes - But there are a lot of variables.

Grapevines are rated according to their hardiness. The USDA rates growing areas from 1 to 11 with 1 being the coldest. Most of the vines that we grow have a hardiness rating of from 3 to 6 More...

AT THE HONEY FARM
Comb Honey

Pat and I would like to thank everyone who came to our honey sales stand this year to purchase honey. We wish we could have stayed open longer but once the vineyard and grapes are done we must close the stand and all other sales are done through our website. Remember, you can arrange for picking up your order when you check out on our e-commerce site.

There was a relatively small crop of honey in 2009 for us and most other beekeepers in Michigan. This has been driving the cost of honey up somewhat. We are now finishing the removal of the honey crop and preparing our bees for the winter.

We did have a good crop of Comb Honey and have it on sale during the rest of the year Click here to purchase comb honey....

HONEY FARM FAQ
Do we purchase honey?

In some years, like 2009, we cannot even come close to producing the amount of honey necessary for our customers that come to our sales stand. In order to take care of everyone we do purchase honey from other local beekeepers in our area.

Bill & PatWe would like to thank you for your business and being part of our Extended Farm Family.
