What is Comb Honey
Good News ... When you experience the fragrance of a field of wildflowers or an orchard in full bloom, envision this captured in a jar of our pure Michigan honey. The aroma emanates from the nectar in each flower. The bees collect this sweet nectar, return it to the hive and remove the excess moisture. This distilled nectar is honey! Because of the variety of clovers, trees, wildflowers and vegetables that grow in Michigan, our bees produce a honey of exceptional quality. Our honey is un-filtered leaving all the goodness in it.
While liquid honey is a great topping on a number of foods, honeycomb can go places where honey can’t. Honeycomb has been eaten alongside honey for as long as humans have been harvesting from beehives, providing a perfectly edible, solid ‘body’ for the taste of honey. Enjoy it on toast, as a topping, a snack, or even raw!

We call Comb Honey NATURES CANDY!
Comb honey is the raw honey cut from the comb - right after the honeybees have produced it.
It is cut into pieces and put into plastic containers or in half pint jelly jars.
New this year is a sampler, half size (6-8oz) comb honey - the standard 4 inch box with 12-16 oz of comb honey is always available.

Comb honey, in simplest terms, is the rawest form of honey available.
The worker bee “architects” build tiny beeswax hexagons to allow for the storage of pollen and nectar, and of course, a place to house the honey they produce.
When you buy a jar of honey, the beekeeper has either crushed the comb to squeeze out the honey or used a centrifuge to sling the honey from the wax. The honey is then strained and placed in jars.
Comb honey skips all those steps! We take the frames whose hexagons are filled only with honey, cut that comb honey into squares, and place it in a box for you to take home. Comb honey is raw honey packaged in its own edible package!
A century ago, comb honey was a very common product. In fact, it was more common to find comb honey than it was to find jars of honey.
These days the only beekeepers that generally produce comb honey are small-scale or hobbyist beekeepers.
Why? Comb honey does take a bit more patience to produce. Comb honey starts with a new sheet of fresh wax (foundation) in the frames. The honeybees have to expand and add to the wax to make the cells to store honey in. Only the strongest hives can produce comb honey and they have to be checked frequently.
Comb honey is a gorgeous natural wonder: tens of thousands of bees working together to build perfect hexagons that are the exact same size and shape that fit perfectly together over and over again.
